Meet Jennifer

Jennifer M. Mohr-Boscaino, L.Ac. Jennifer M. Mohr-Boscaino, L.Ac.

Board Certified and New York State Licensed Acupuncturist and Herbalist

When Jennifer was 19 years old, she had Achilles tendinitis from dancing professionally.  She tried physical therapy, medication, chiropractic, and Pilates to alleviate the pain.  Nothing helped.  At a loss, Jennifer tried acupuncture.  The second treatment changed her life:  the pain was eliminated, range of motion was restored, and she was able to continue dancing.  Even twenty years later, the Achilles tendinitis is a thing of the past.  After that extraordinary experience, she has continued with acupuncture whenever an issue would arise such as neck pain, tension headaches, hamstring pull, anxiety, and regulating her period.

Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Jennifer has lived in New York since 2002. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts in Dance from the University of California, Irvine, and was awarded the Phi Beta Kappa in Psychology. She taught Pilates and Gyrotonic for 15 years, with a focus on injuries and pain management; Jennifer earned a Masters of Oriental Medicine from Pacific College of Health and Science (formerly Tri-State College of Acupuncture). In addition, she completed a seven-month externship at the HIV/AIDS nursing home called the Rivington House and a mentorship with Emilie Connor focused on pain management and anxiety.

Jennifer loves to treat teenage athletes and dancers; she focuses on injury prevention, pain management, and movement reeducation.  Jennifer also has a strong affinity for women going through menopause and its side effects:  hot flashes, pain, insomnia, and anxiety.

Jennifer strives to integrate eastern and western medicine.  She believes in the body’s intrinsic ability to heal his/herself; touch, movement, and relaxation are cornerstones to healing the body.  In our crazy busy world that is focused on doing (work, kids, money, etc.), acupuncture can be a place of being and of experiencing that allows the body to heal.
